The Butterfly Stool was designed in the year 1954 by Sori Yanagi for Vitra.
The Butterfly Stool is an elegant and unique design object for your home! For this stool by Vitra the Japanese designer Yanagi combined the Asian design vocabulary of his home country with the technology of plywood moulding developed by Charles & Ray Eames, the famous Vitra designers.
The Butterfly Stool by Vitra is manufactured of moulded plywood, two identical shapes are connected lengthwise and are linked at the bottom with a brass rod. We carry the Butterfly Stool different wood versions, like maple or rosewood, please see the "available product types" for detailed information.
In its shape the Butterfly Stool by Vitra reminds us of the entrances to Shinto shrines, the so called torii, as well as the wings of a butterfly. Wonderful!
