The Bulbul kettle by Achille Castiglioni is a 1995 model, inspired by curling stones, which is among the prototypes kept by the Alessi Museum.
Bulbul highlights the extraordinary ability of Castiglioni to endow a project with qualities and functions inspired by objects belonging to quite different universes. It’s from this game of diversion that the ironic dimension so characteristic of his work is often born. Bulbul is an ideal kettle, nice and round, like a curling stone: from cold water to steam, the entertainment it offers is underlined by the name Castiglioni chose for it, “bul, bul”, or “it’s boiling, it’s boiling” in the dialect of Milan, the city that saw the birth of this essential figure in design.
