Vitra Ceramic Container No. 3 is part of Alexander Girard's 1952 Ceramic Containers collection. The sculptural forms are based on wooden objects that Girard originally turned by hand on a lathe, with silhouettes recalling apothecary vessels, game pieces and traditional millinery forms.
Vitra developed the historic designs in cast ceramic with the Girard family. Each container is hand-glazed and works equally well as a decorative object or as practical storage for keys, coins, small accessories and other everyday objects.
