Charles and Ray Eames developed a toy elephant made of plywood in 1945; however, this piece never went into production. A scaled-down version, the Eames Elephant (small) made of robust plastic, can be used as a child's toy or as a decorative object, whose friendly face adds a charming note to any setting.

Vitra uses post-consumer recycling materials, primarily packaging material sourced from household waste. This is only possible when an appropriate separation system is in place for household waste, as is the case in Germany or Austria. The post-consumer recycling materials used at Vitra come from the ‘Yellow Bag’ (Gelber Sack) collection system in Germany. If it is possible to manufacture a product or component in a post-consumer recycling material, this solution is given precedence at Vitra.
