Designed by Verner Panton in 1959 and developed for serial production with Vitra, the Panton Chair is one of the most recognizable icons of twentieth-century furniture design. Its flowing one-piece cantilever form combines sculptural presence with everyday comfort.
The current polypropylene version was developed by Vitra and Verner Panton and introduced in 1999. The slightly flexible, anthropomorphic form is comfortable for dining, work and everyday seating, and the chair can be used indoors or outdoors on a temporary or seasonal basis.
